Easter Island originally named Rapa Nui (Navel of the World); this is the most isolated island on earth. Located in mid-Pacific six jet hours from Santiago, the island is an open-air museum best known for over 600 gigantic statues (moais) that mysteriously stand with their backs to the sea. The ancient civilization that inhabited the island had an organized society, written language, masterful building techniques, and a complex religion. Next we travel to Peru where the topography is as epic as its history. This is an “Open-Air Museum” arguably with no equal. Here you will wander around colonial cities, visit the ancient Incan capital of Cuzco, explore the lost city of Machu Picchu and ponder the mysteries of lost civilization.

This magnificent platform is the largest on the island and holds fifteen moai. The tour continues along the north coast to stop at Ahu Te Pito Kura. This is the site of the largest moai ever transported and erected onto an ahu. The next stop is the beach of Anakena where, according to native legend, Hotu Matua first landed on Rapa Nui. The tour continues to Vinapu, located near Hanga Roa, formed by 3 Ahus to compose a ceremonial platform, with a remarkable resemblance to the Machu Picchu in Peru. In the afternoon, visit Ahu Akivi, a beautiful natural lava tube cave used for shelter by ancient islanders. From the Ana Te Pahu, the tour goes further inland to the Ahu Akivi. This ahu (platform) with its seven moai was completely restored in 1960. The last stop is the secondary crater of Puna Pau.
